Step 1: Remove Loose Debris

Before applying any cleaner, vacuum the rubber floor with a soft brush head to remove dust, dirt, and loose particles. A vacuum works better than a broom because it can pull debris out of the small pores in the rubber.

  • Adjust the vacuum brush height so it doesn’t scratch or mark the surface.
  • A light to medium setting is usually enough to lift debris without causing damage.

Step 2: Wash the Floor

Rubber flooring is best cleaned with a mop, but not all mop types work well:

  • Avoid cotton string mops or low-quality sponge mops, as they can shed fibers.
  • Use a microfiber mop head for the best results.

Mix a pH-neutral cleaner (such as Zep Concentrated Neutral pH Floor Cleaner) with warm water, following the product’s dilution instructions. Mop the floor with a damp—not soaking wet—mop.

⚠️ If using a foamy cleaner (like dish soap), rinse the floor afterward with clean water. Skipping this step can leave behind a film that makes the floor look dull and attracts more dirt.

Step 3: Dry the Floor

Let the floor air dry completely. To speed up the process:

  • Open windows for better airflow.
  • Use a box fan to circulate air.
  • Wipe up excess water with a dry microfiber cloth or mop.

3/8" (9mm) Rubber Gym Tiles — 24” x 24” | Our Best-Selling Thickness for Full-Room Gym Floors

The 3/8" (9mm) is our #1 selling rubber gym thickness — in rolls, in mats, and in tiles. In the 24” x 24” format, it’s the straightforward answer for builders who want to tile their entire gym with the thickness most professionals reach for: real weight training protection, fast coverage at 4 sqft per tile, and 6 color options including Eggshell/Cocoa and Terra Cotta for gym builders who care about what the finished floor actually looks like.

Made in the USA from recycled rubber, backed by a 5-year warranty.

Why 3/8" (9mm) Is the Pro Standard for Gym Rubber

  • Our #1 best-selling gym rubber thickness — chosen by home gym builders, commercial gym operators, and fitness professionals more than any other thickness we offer
  • Built for serious weight training — handles free weights, barbells, squat racks, deadlift work, and all heavy gym equipment with real impact protection
  • Protects any subfloor from the cumulative damage of heavy equipment and barbell floor contact — concrete, hardwood, tile; the 9mm takes the hit so the floor doesn’t
  • Best anti-fatigue performance for standing through long training sessions in the weight room
  • 5-year industry-leading warranty
  • Made in the USA from recycled tires
  • Slip-resistant surface holds steady under heavy equipment and loaded movement

Why the 24” Format Is Right for Full-Room Builds

  • Cover more ground per tile — 4 sqft/tile means a 200 sqft room is 50 tiles; at 18” it’s 85 tiles; the install time difference is substantial
  • 6 color options — the widest color palette in the 3/8" tile format; Black, Gray, Blue, Blue/Gray, Eggshell/Cocoa, and Terra Cotta
  • Cleaner finished appearance — fewer seams across an open room gives a more professional, built-out look
  • Better per-sqft value than the 18” tile — the 24” Black tile comes in at $2.18/sqft versus $2.55/sqft for 18”; on a large install the savings are real
  • Modular and reversible — no adhesive, no permanent commitment; expand, reconfigure, or take the floor with you

Where 3/8" x 24” x 24” Tiles Are the Right Call

  • Full garage gym floors where you want serious weight training protection wall to wall
  • Basement gym transformations tiled from the footprint of the first piece of equipment to the full room
  • Commercial weight rooms that need a reliable, serviceable tile floor with per-tile replaceability over time
  • CrossFit and functional fitness facilities with barbells, kettlebells, and mixed equipment across the full floor
  • Multi-station home gyms covering a rack, bench, cable machine, and open floor space in one continuous interlocked surface
  • School and community fitness spaces that need weight-room-grade protection on a budget

How the Interlocking System Works

Puzzle-style interlocking edges on all four sides. No adhesive, underlayment, or tools required. Tiles press together and lock in place under training loads. Fully reversible — any tile lifts out individually without disturbing surrounding tiles, for cleaning, replacement, or reconfiguration.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many 24” tiles for a standard garage gym?

A one-car garage is roughly 10’ x 20’ (200 sqft = 50 tiles + 5% overage = 53 tiles). A two-car garage at 20’ x 20’ (400 sqft) takes about 105 tiles. For partial coverage of just the workout zone, measure the specific area and divide by 4 sqft/tile. At $8.72/tile Black, a 200 sqft install runs approximately $462 in Black before shipping.

Is 3/8" better than 5/16" for a weight room?

For weight rooms with barbell work — deadlifts, cleans, rows where the bar contacts the floor — yes. The 3/8" thickness adds meaningful impact protection and durability over the 5/16" tile. If your space is primarily machines and benches with no barbell floor contact, the 5/16" handles the job at a lower cost. For anything involving free weights on the floor, 3/8" is the professional standard.

Can I mix 3/8" 24x24 tiles with 3/8" 18x18 tiles?

Not in an interlocked installation — the 18” and 24” tile edges are different sizes and won’t connect. However, you can place the two formats in separate zones that butt up against each other, or use one format for the main floor and another for a border treatment. For a seamless connected floor, stay with one tile size throughout.

How does 3/8" tile compare to a 3/8" mat?

Same rubber, same thickness, same USA manufacturing — different format. Our 3/8" mats come in fixed 4’ x 6’ or 4’ x 8’ sizes with no seams in the coverage area. Tiles offer layout flexibility, modular expansion, and per-tile replaceability. Choose mats for standard equipment footprints where a seamless surface is preferred; choose tiles when you want to build out a full room or expand a floor over time.

Does the 5-year warranty cover the 3/8" tiles?

Yes — our 5-year warranty covers all rubber flooring including the 3/8" (9mm) tiles, covering manufacturing defects in material and workmanship.
