Before you order: current production time
Rolls and tiles are running about 2-4 weeks from order to ship right now. Adhesive, tape, underlayment and tools ship on our normal schedule.
Email cs@rubberflooring.store before you order if you're working to a deadline and we'll check the current queue for you.
Which thickness do you need?
Thickness is almost always the first question, and it comes down to one thing: how much weight is going to hit the floor, and from how high.
- 1/4" (6mm) — cardio equipment, light dumbbells, a home gym that doesn't get dropped on. The thinnest we'd put under a treadmill or bike.
- 5/16" (8mm) — a step up for general training. Good all-round choice if you're not sure and you're not dropping heavy.
- 3/8" (9mm) — the standard for a garage gym with a rack and moderate dropping. This is what most people building a home gym end up on.
- 1/2" (12mm) — dropping loaded barbells, Olympic lifting, platform builds. If you deadlift heavy, start here.
Going thicker than you need mostly costs money and headroom. Going thinner than you need costs you a cracked slab.
Rolls, tiles or mats?
Same rubber, three formats. The right one depends on the room and how permanent you want it.
Rolls
- Best For: Covering a whole garage or room. Fewest seams, best price per square foot, cleanest look.
- Trade Off: Heavy. Plan on two people and either adhesive or double-sided tape.
Tiles
- Best For: Odd-shaped rooms, upstairs spaces, anywhere you have to carry it in alone. Interlocking, no adhesive needed.
- Trade Off: More seams, and costs a bit more per square foot.
Mats
- Best For: A rack, a platform, or one lifting station. Drop it down and you're done.
- Trade Off: Only covers the footprint you buy — not a whole-room answer.
Not sure how much you need?
Send us the room dimensions — length, width, and what you're putting in it — and we'll work out the square footage and tell you which format makes sense. You can contact us at cs@rubberflooring.store.
FAQ
How long until my order ships?
Rolls and tiles are made to order, currently running about 2-4 weeks. Accessories ship on our normal schedule. We email tracking the day it leaves the plant.
Can I put rubber flooring over concrete, wood or carpet?
Concrete and wood, yes. Carpet is a different story. We wrote up the details here: Can You Install Rubber Gym Flooring Over Concrete, Wood or Carpet?
Do I need adhesive?
Not always. Rolls in a room where the floor is fully covered often stay put on their own weight. Use double-sided tape if you want it removable, or polyurethane adhesive if it's permanent and gets heavy use.
How much do I need?
Length × width in feet gives you square footage. Add about 5% for cuts around doorways and corners. Or email the dimensions and we'll do it.
Does the discount apply to shipping?
No — sale codes come off the product total. Rubber ships freight and that cost is what it is.
