Step 1: Remove Loose Debris
Before applying any cleaner, vacuum the rubber floor with a soft brush head to remove dust, dirt, and loose particles. A vacuum works better than a broom because it can pull debris out of the small pores in the rubber.
- Adjust the vacuum brush height so it doesn’t scratch or mark the surface.
- A light to medium setting is usually enough to lift debris without causing damage.
Step 2: Wash the Floor
Rubber flooring is best cleaned with a mop, but not all mop types work well:
- Avoid cotton string mops or low-quality sponge mops, as they can shed fibers.
- Use a microfiber mop head for the best results.
Mix a pH-neutral cleaner (such as Zep Concentrated Neutral pH Floor Cleaner) with warm water, following the product’s dilution instructions. Mop the floor with a damp—not soaking wet—mop.
⚠️ If using a foamy cleaner (like dish soap), rinse the floor afterward with clean water. Skipping this step can leave behind a film that makes the floor look dull and attracts more dirt.
Step 3: Dry the Floor
Let the floor air dry completely. To speed up the process:
- Open windows for better airflow.
- Use a box fan to circulate air.
- Wipe up excess water with a dry microfiber cloth or mop.

3/8" (9mm) Rubber Gym Mats — 4’ x 8’ | Commercial-Grade Protection for Full Rack Stations & Barbell Zones
When a 4’ x 6’ isn’t quite enough floor, the 4’ x 8’ format in our best-selling 3/8" (9mm) thickness is the answer. Thirty-two square feet of commercial-grade rubber protection — sized to cover a full power rack station including the barbell zone in front, a dedicated deadlift and clean platform area, two side-by-side free weight stations, or any large-footprint equipment configuration where you want real impact protection and zero compromise.
Made in the USA, backed by a 5-year warranty, available in 7 colors, and shipped free.
Why 4’ x 8’ + 3/8" Is the Commercial-Grade Combination
- Full rack coverage — the 8-foot length covers the power rack base plus the full barbell zone in front where the bar contacts the floor on deadlifts and pulls
- Side-by-side free weight stations — two dumbbell areas or a bench plus an adjacent squat rack zone covered with one mat and zero seams between them
- Dedicated barbell platforms in commercial settings where a built platform isn’t practical
- Heavy garage gym builds where you want maximum protection for a concrete slab over the full workout footprint
- Olympic lifting staging areas — though for full overhead drops, our 1/2" mat provides more protection
What Makes 3/8" (9mm) the Right Thickness
- Our #1 best-selling gym rubber thickness — for both rolls and mats
- Handles barbell drops and free weight impact with real confidence
- Protects concrete, hardwood, and tile subfloors from cracking and denting under heavy loads
- Best anti-fatigue performance for standing and training on hard subfloors
- 5-year industry-leading warranty
- Made in the USA from recycled tires
- Slip-resistant across the full 32-sqft surface — no creeping under loaded movement

Frequently Asked Questions
Will a 4’ x 8’ mat cover a full power rack station?
Yes, for most home power racks and mid-size commercial racks. The 4-foot width covers the rack’s footprint, and the 8-foot length covers the rack base plus the barbell zone in front where you’d stand for deadlifts and where the bar contacts the floor. Larger commercial platforms with J-hooks extending wide may need two 4’ x 8’ mats placed side by side.
How does the 4’ x 8’ 3/8" mat compare to a deadlift platform?
A rubber mat protects your floors and provides cushion — it’s not the same as a purpose-built stall-mat deadlift platform with a center wood section. That said, a 3/8" rubber mat handles routine deadlift work (touching the bar down with control between reps) very well and is a practical, affordable option for home gym builders. For competition-level drops or repeated intentional ground releases, a built platform with our 1/2" mats as the outer panels is the better setup.
How many 4’ x 8’ mats for a standard horse stall?
A standard 12’ x 12’ stall needs 6 mats (6 × 32 sqft = 192 sqft). Run them in two rows of three. A 10’ x 10’ stall takes about 4. Our 3/8" (9mm) thickness is a popular choice for horses because it provides excellent hoof cushion and durability over years of daily use.
What’s the total weight of this mat?
About 69 lbs for the Black version (2.16 lbs/sqft × 32 sqft). A two-person setup is recommended — one to hold, one to position.
Does the 5-year warranty apply?
Yes — our 5-year warranty covers all rubber flooring including the 3/8" (9mm) mats.
