V-Notch Trowel for Rubber Flooring Adhesive — 9” x 4” Steel Blade
When you’re doing a glue-down rubber flooring installation, the trowel isn’t optional — it’s how you get consistent adhesive depth across the entire subfloor. Spread too thick and you waste adhesive; spread too thin and the bond fails. This V-notch trowel is sized specifically for rubber flooring adhesive application, with a 1/8” x 1/8” x 1/8” V-notch that delivers the correct spread rate for polyurethane adhesive at approximately 75 sqft per gallon.
Specifications
- Blade: 9” x 4” hard, cold-rolled steel — built for extended wear over multiple projects
- Notch size: 1/8” x 1/8” x 1/8” V-notch — matches the spread rate specified for Eagle Grip polyurethane adhesive
- Handle: High-impact black plastic for a secure, comfortable grip
- Reusable: Clean after use and store for future installations
How to Apply Adhesive with a V-Notch Trowel
- Pour or spread a working section of polyurethane adhesive onto the subfloor — work in manageable sections (typically 50–75 sqft at a time)
- Hold the trowel at a consistent angle (approximately 45°) and comb the adhesive in straight, parallel lines using the V-notch edge
- The notch creates uniform ridges that collapse evenly when the rubber flooring is pressed into place, ensuring full contact coverage
- Lay the rubber flooring into the wet adhesive and press firmly; work out air bubbles from the center toward the edges
- Clean the trowel immediately after use before adhesive cures
Complete the Glue-Down Installation Kit
- Eagle Grip Polyurethane Adhesive — the adhesive this trowel is sized for; 1 gallon per ~75 sqft
- 48” T-Square — for cutting rubber rolls straight before laying into adhesive
- Utility Knife — for perimeter and seam cuts in the rubber flooring
