Step 1: Remove Loose Debris
Before applying any cleaner, vacuum the rubber floor with a soft brush head to remove dust, dirt, and loose particles. A vacuum works better than a broom because it can pull debris out of the small pores in the rubber.
- Adjust the vacuum brush height so it doesn’t scratch or mark the surface.
- A light to medium setting is usually enough to lift debris without causing damage.
Step 2: Wash the Floor
Rubber flooring is best cleaned with a mop, but not all mop types work well:
- Avoid cotton string mops or low-quality sponge mops, as they can shed fibers.
- Use a microfiber mop head for the best results.
Mix a pH-neutral cleaner (such as Zep Concentrated Neutral pH Floor Cleaner) with warm water, following the product’s dilution instructions. Mop the floor with a damp—not soaking wet—mop.
⚠️ If using a foamy cleaner (like dish soap), rinse the floor afterward with clean water. Skipping this step can leave behind a film that makes the floor look dull and attracts more dirt.
Step 3: Dry the Floor
Let the floor air dry completely. To speed up the process:
- Open windows for better airflow.
- Use a box fan to circulate air.
- Wipe up excess water with a dry microfiber cloth or mop.

5/16" (8mm) XL Rubber Rolls — 5-Foot Wide, Maximum Efficiency, Real Cushion
The best of both worlds: the all-around cushion and durability of our popular 5/16" (8mm) rubber gym rolls, now in a 5-foot-wide XL format that covers more floor with fewer seams and less installation time. Whether you’re fitting out a large fitness studio, a commercial weight room, or a school gym, these 8mm XL rubber flooring rolls deliver a professional-grade finish that’s faster to lay and built to last — backed by an industry-leading 5-year warranty.
Made in the USA from recycled tires and cut to your exact length, the 5-foot width means one strip covers a full 25% more floor than our standard 4-foot rolls. On a large project, that difference in seam count is visible, felt underfoot, and saves real money in labor time.
Why the XL Width Changes the Game for Larger Spaces
- 5 feet wide — 25% more coverage per strip vs. standard 4-foot rolls
- Fewer seams across your floor — means a smoother, more uniform surface and fewer places for moisture or debris to collect over time
- Faster project completion — fewer strips to cut, position, and secure adds up fast on big installs
- Less waste on wide rectangular spaces — wider rolls align better with standard room widths, reducing offcuts
- Longer-lasting floor — fewer seam edges means fewer points of potential edge lift or wear
- Cleaner, high-end commercial look — wide-format flooring looks more intentional and professional
Why 5/16" (8mm)? The Cushion That Works Everywhere
- More cushion than 1/4" — better anti-fatigue performance and impact absorption for equipment zones
- More affordable than 3/8" — a smart middle-ground for spaces that don’t need full commercial-grade thickness
- 5-year industry-leading warranty on all rubber flooring
- Made in the USA from recycled tires
- Cut to your exact length — from 15’ to 50’ in 5-foot increments
- Slip-resistant surface for safe footing with cardio equipment, weight benches, and free weights
- Safe for indoor and outdoor use
- Available in 5 colors: Black, Gray, Blue, Blue/Gray, and Confetti
Ideal Applications for 5/16" XL Rubber Rolls
The 5-foot XL format is particularly well-suited to wide, open-plan environments where the wider strip width reduces visible seam lines:
- Large home gym flooring with mixed cardio and weight training setups
- Commercial fitness center flooring in general training zones
- Group fitness and aerobics studios
- School and university weight room flooring
- Martial arts and functional training gyms
- Under rows of cardio equipment — treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, rowers
- Dog kennel and pet care facility flooring
- Horse stall flooring
- Locker room flooring with spike protection
- Outdoor patio and deck flooring on wide open surfaces

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between the 5/16" XL and the standard 5/16" rubber rolls?
The only difference is width. The standard rolls are 4 feet wide; the XL rolls are 5 feet wide. Same recycled rubber construction, same warranty, same thickness — the XL format just covers 25% more floor per strip, which means fewer seams and faster installation on large projects.
Is 5/16" thick enough for a weight room?
For moderate weight training and general fitness, yes. The 5/16" (8mm) thickness handles cardio equipment, light-to-moderate free weights, and general gym activity well. If your weight room involves regular barbell work and heavier dropped weights, we’d recommend stepping up to the 3/8" XL rolls for additional impact protection.
Does the 5-year warranty apply to the XL rolls?
Yes — our industry-leading 5-year warranty covers all our rubber flooring, including the 5/16" XL rolls. It covers manufacturing defects in material and workmanship.
Are these made in the USA?
Yes. Our 5/16" XL rubber rolls are proudly made in the USA from recycled tires.
How do I install 5-foot-wide rubber rolls?
Roll out the flooring, trim to your desired length with a straight edge and utility knife, and lay flat. For permanent installations, use our Polyurethane Adhesive or Double Sided Tape at seams and edges. The wider format means fewer seams to secure, making the overall install faster than with standard-width rolls.
