Step 1: Remove Loose Debris
Before applying any cleaner, vacuum the rubber floor with a soft brush head to remove dust, dirt, and loose particles. A vacuum works better than a broom because it can pull debris out of the small pores in the rubber.
- Adjust the vacuum brush height so it doesn’t scratch or mark the surface.
- A light to medium setting is usually enough to lift debris without causing damage.
Step 2: Wash the Floor
Rubber flooring is best cleaned with a mop, but not all mop types work well:
- Avoid cotton string mops or low-quality sponge mops, as they can shed fibers.
- Use a microfiber mop head for the best results.
Mix a pH-neutral cleaner (such as Zep Concentrated Neutral pH Floor Cleaner) with warm water, following the product’s dilution instructions. Mop the floor with a damp—not soaking wet—mop.
⚠️ If using a foamy cleaner (like dish soap), rinse the floor afterward with clean water. Skipping this step can leave behind a film that makes the floor look dull and attracts more dirt.
Step 3: Dry the Floor
Let the floor air dry completely. To speed up the process:
- Open windows for better airflow.
- Use a box fan to circulate air.
- Wipe up excess water with a dry microfiber cloth or mop.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is 5/16" rubber flooring best used for?
Our 5/16" (8mm) rubber rolls are the ideal all-rounder. They provide more cushion and impact resistance than our 1/4" option, making them a great choice for home gyms with mixed equipment, cardio zones with heavier machines, and commercial fitness areas where you want durability without the full cost of 3/8" commercial-grade flooring.
What’s the difference between 5/16" and 3/8" rubber rolls?
The gap is small but meaningful. Our 3/8" (9mm) rolls offer slightly more impact absorption and are the go-to for dedicated weight rooms and heavy commercial use. The 5/16" (8mm) hits a great price-to-performance ratio for spaces that see a mix of cardio and moderate weight training. If free weights are a major part of your routine, we’d recommend stepping up to 3/8".
Does the 5-year warranty cover heavy gym use?
Yes. Our 5-year warranty covers manufacturing defects in material and workmanship across all our rubber flooring products, including the 5/16" rolls. It reflects our confidence in the durability of these rolls under real gym conditions.
Are 5/16" rubber rolls made in the USA?
Yes. All our rubber rolls, including the 5/16" (8mm), are proudly made in the USA from recycled tires — a durable and environmentally responsible flooring choice.
Can I use 5/16" rubber rolls outdoors?
Yes — these rolls are safe for both indoor and outdoor use. They hold up on patios, decks, boat docks, and outdoor pet facilities, and their slip-resistant surface performs well in wet conditions.
How do I install 5/16" rubber gym rolls?
Simply roll out your rubber flooring and cut to fit with a straight edge and utility knife. For permanent installations, secure with our Polyurethane Adhesive or Double Sided Tape at the seams and edges. No special tools or professional installation required.
